Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium) is an antibiotic of the penicillin family. It is used to treat many different types of infection in areas including the ears, throat, tonsils, larynx, bronchial system, sinus area, lungs, skin, urinary tract and sexual system.
How to use Generic Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium) should be taken orally with a snack or a meal every 8-12 hours. This drug should be taken at even intervals so the level of medicine in your body is consistent; this helps the medication perform at its best. You should take the full prescribed amount of this medicine, even if your symptoms go away. Stopping the medication early can allow the bacteria to grow again.
Overdose If you suspect an overdose contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Missed dose If you missed a dose take the medication as soon as you remember. However, if it is near the time of your next dose, then skip your missed dose and resume your normal schedule. Do not attempt to double up a dosage.

Precautions Before taking this medicine inform your doctor of any allergies you have. Contact your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: Easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, dark urine, persistent nausea or vomiting, severe stomach or abdominal pain, yellowing eyes or skin.
Tell your doctor immediately if you have: persistent diarrhea, severe abdominal or stomach pain or cramping and blood or mucus in your stool.
