Generic Vibramycin(Doxycycline Hyclate) is a general antibiotic. It is used against a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria in the body. This medicine is not effective treating infections caused by viruses. The drug is commonly used in treatment of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, fevers from ticks, typhus, rickettesial pox and Q fever as well as to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others. It is also used to treat uncomplicated rectal infections cervical infections and urethral infections and other sexually transmitted infections like non-gonococcal urethritis, Granuloma infections.

Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is a member of the tetracycline antibiotics group. It reduces the drug resistance in the bacteria and is strongly recommended to be used only in case of susceptible bacterial infections. It is frequently used to treat Chronic Prostatitis, Sinusitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease, Acne, Rosacea, and Rickettsial infections. The drug is also known to be effective against respiratory tract infections and specific infections like Plague, Cholera, relapsing fever, Bartenollosis, etc. It reduces the drug resistance in the bacteria and is strongly recommended to be used only in case of susceptible bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent or slow the progression of anthrax after exposure.
How to use It should be taken with a full glass of water and patients should be upright for at least 30 minutes after administration to prevent irritation of the esophagus and stomach. Also, there is a slim risk of liver damage during prolonged use of the drug. It is also recommended that it be taken with a small meal of a non-dairy nature if upset stomach, nausea, or fatigue occurs.
Overdose It is strongly recommended that the drug should be taken in recommended dosages as overdose can cause serious symptoms and reactions. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical treatment immediately.
Missed dose Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, put it off for several hours after taking the missed dose. Especially, if you are taking one dose a day, take the next one 10 to 12 hours after the missed dose. If you are taking two doses a day, take the next one 5 to 6 hours after the missed dose. If you are taking three doses a day, take the next one 2 to 4 hours after the missed dose. Then return to your regular schedule.

Important note Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is not approved for use in children under the age of 8 years for two reasons: It can cause permanent yellowing or graying of the teeth.

It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) with the following: Antacids containing Aluminum, Calcium, or Magnesium, and Iron-containing preparations, Barbiturates such as Phenobarbital Bismuth subsalicylate, Blood-thinning medications such as Warfarin, Carbamazepine, Oral contraceptives, Penicillin, Phenytoin or Sodium bicarbonate.
Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is known to cause nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, hyper pigmentation, urticaria, tooth enamel defects, increased appetite and several other symptoms of overdose or adverse reactions, Angioedema (chest pain; swelling of face, around lips, tongue and throat, arms and legs; difficulty swallowing), bulging foreheads in infants, diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, discolored teeth in infants and children (more common during long-term use of tetracycline), inflammation of the tongue, loss of appetite, rectal or genital itching, severe allergic reaction (hives, itching, and swelling), skin sensitivity to light.
