Generic Alli (Orlistat) comes in easy-to-swallow capsules. Users should take one capsule before every meal. It is important that patients taking this medication maintain a normal diet which provides every nutrition the body needs. It is also recommended that patients take an extra fat-soluble vitamin supplement, such as Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K or beta carotene once a day, at least 2 hours before or after taking Generic Alli (Orlistat), for instance at bedtime.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose of Generic Alli (Orlistat), seek immediate medical attention or contact your local poison center immediately. Symptoms of an overdose have not yet been fully established but since the capsules of Generic Alli (Orlistat) only contain a very low dosis of the active ingredient Orlistat (60 mg), severe side effects are very unlikely. If you do take far more than the recommended dose, in very few cases the usual intestinal-related Alli side effects can be expected, although they may be more severe - particularly in conjunction with a high-fat meal. It is probably a good idea to avoid eating fat for a few days, as this can help decrease the side effects.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but no more than 1 hour after eating a meal. If it has been more than an hour since your last meal, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at your next regularly scheduled time. Do not double up your dosage.
Notes Generic Alli (Orlistat) works in the stomach with some of the natural occurring chemicals. These chemicals, called lipases, are responsible for breaking down the large fat molecules into smaller components which are digestible for the body. By inhibiting the action of the lipases in the stomach, Generic Alli (Orlistat) prevents around a third of the fat molecules you eat from being digested and stored in the body.

Häufige Fragen
How is Generic Alli (Orlistat) different from other weight loss medication?
Unlike most pills promising weight loss, this medication has been studied in clinical tests and has been proven to work. In one controlled study where all patients were following the same diet, those taking Generic Alli (Orlistat) lost on average twice as much over a 52-week period as patients who were given a placebo.
With the exception of Generic Alli (Orlistat), all current prescription drugs for weight loss act on the brain to reduce appetite. You eat less and you lose weight - but at a price. In order to get to the brain, these drugs must enter the blood stream. Therefore, these drugs may have side effects which affect the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, ranging from minor to severe. They are therefore indicated for short term use only.
Most importantly, though, these drugs do little or nothing to help people change their eating habits or lifestyles. So when they stop taking the drugs, the weight is quickly piled back on. Generic Alli (Orlistat), on the other hand, does not enter the blood stream or have a negative effect on the brain. This medication does not reduce your appetite. It simply blocks the digestion and absorption of fat and helps you to control your fat intake.
One of the main differences with other Orlistat-based weight loss products, such as Xenical, is the lower dosis of Orlistat it contains (60mg as opposed to 120mg), which makes it less likely for patients taking Generic Alli (Orlistat) to incur side effects. Furthermore, this medication comes with a handy starter pack, which contains 200 pages of material to guide individuals through the Alli program and helps set expectations for gradual weight loss, helps people make healthy eating choices, monitors daily diets and manages the effects of treatment. This makes Generic Alli (Orlistat) a more comprehensive weight loss program than any other over-the-counter medication available.
Can I eat whatever I want when taking Generic Alli (Orlistat)?
When taking Generic Alli (Orlistat) you can eat whatever you want, but only in smaller amounts. It is recommended that you take this medication in conjunction with a diet that is moderately reduced in calories and fat - about 20% or 600 calories less per day. You should consult your physician or dietitian for further advice.
The daily intake of fat should also be distributed over three main meals throughout the day. These restrictions are far less than most weight loss diets and are, therefore, much easier to follow.
How fast will I lose weight when using Generic Alli (Orlistat)?
Weight loss begins immediately. There have been international clinical studies involving thousands of patients, where most individuals using Generic Alli (Orlistat) lost, on average, 10% of their initial body weight over a 6-8 month period. Overall, the patients who were given Generic Alli (Orlistat) lost an average of 13 lbs after 3 months and 19 lbs after 12 months.
How do you know that Generic Alli (Orlistat) is safe and effective?
This medication is the most thoroughly tested weight control medication in the world. More than 100 clinical trials with Generic Alli (Orlistat) were conducted with over 7,000 patients in North America, South America, and Europe. These trials all support the safety and efficacy of this medication.
If I take more than one capsule of Generic Alli (Orlistat) at a time, will it block more fat?
No, you will not benefit from taking more than the recommended dose of Generic Alli (Orlistat). On the contrary, you will increase the possiblity of any common or severe side effects attributed to this medication.
